Physical education at Saint Pius X is fun but
requires a lot of hard work. The students are asked to give their best
and challenge
themselves every class period. This class
follows the standard N.C. Physical Education curriculum while allowing
the students to express their own individuality. My goal is to
present exercise as a rewarding and self-fulfilling experience by
introducing various sports and physical activities. Each student will develop an
acceptable level of health-related fitness and demonstrate knowledge,
skills and behaviors to promote physical fitness. Each student will
also develop motor skills and apply strategies to participate
safely in sport activities.
Some of the fitness activities and sports
that are covered in this course are: volleyball (written and skills
test), flag football (written assignment),
basketball (written and skills test), floor hockey, badminton, track and field
(written assignment),
Presidential Physical Fitness Test, quarterly timed miles and SPX
Superstars (Physical Activity/Fitness Competitions)
Students are evaluated based on their overall
effort, participation, improvement and preparation. They are also
evaluated on their performance relating to written and skills tests.
